Interlude Weekly Digest: the king is still on the throne, but players want a softer version of the classic

Interlude is doing what it has been doing for years: taking the biggest share of new Lineage 2 launches. But the market no longer rewards a bare-bones classic. People still come for the old feeling, yet they increasingly choose versions where the nostalgia is preserved and the rough edges are sanded down.

90-day snapshot

The numbers leave little room for debate. In the last 90 days, 303 new private servers launched, and 211 of them were Interlude. High Five stayed far behind with 50 launches, while Essence reached 27. The old chronicle is still winning not by myth, but by repetition, demand and habit.

  • Interlude — 211
  • High Five — 50
  • Essence — 27

Upcoming openings

  • July 31 — LU4 x1
  • August 1 — L2JavaHF x25

The list is short, which is normal for the end of the month. But this is exactly when the mood of the segment becomes visible: owners are preparing the next cycle, players keep watching, and the market holds its breath before another wave of openings.

Already launched this week

  • InfernalBattle x50000
  • World-Hero x1200
  • Viranium x10
  • L2Mad x100
  • Shock-Zone x50k Interlude+
  • L2infinity-pvp x50k Interlude
  • Eternal-War x50k Interlude+
  • L2Hype x50k Interlude+
  • L2DVIJ x50k Interlude+
  • ECLIPSION x50k Interlude
  • Westeros x100
  • L2Astrion x20

Some of these projects will fade quickly, some will survive the first month, and a few will try to grow into a long campaign. That is the usual life cycle of the segment. But the important part is different: the flow remains dense, and Interlude still gives owners enough confidence to keep launching over and over again.

Main trend

The strongest shift is not in numbers, but in packaging. More and more projects launch not as a pure museum-piece Interlude, but as Interlude+ or remastered. Same base, same emotional hook, yet with a newer client, cleaner interface, auto-loot and extra convenience. In other words, the market is selling memory, but in a more comfortable shell.

What players keep discussing

Players are not really arguing about whether Interlude is alive. That debate is over. The real conversation is about which version of Interlude still feels honest and where modernization starts to kill the atmosphere. This tension between purity and comfort now shapes almost every launch.
